The Cups 9 Hole Course
The Cups Course is a links layout set in rolling dunes and clearly rates amongst the best standalone 9 hole courses in Australia with several magnificent par 3’s and par 4’s. The course is perfect for a quick round for seasoned players and an excellent introduction to the game for juniors and beginners.
As the little sister to the main course we absolutely love it! Its got the same links feel but is a lot more forgiving. The Cups features top quality course design and presentation but the rough is cut down, the bunkers more shallow and the holes shorter.
A highlight of the Cups Course is its downhill par-three 6th hole which plays only 74 metres from the back tee and might be the shortest golf hole in the nation. The 6th hole was voted ‘Best Short Par 3’ in Australia under 100m in length.
A super fun golf course that is perfect for families and friends! To see hole by hole videos of ‘The Cups’ course, scroll down the page.

/ Par 3
White Tees: 125m | Red Tees: 109m
A short par 3 that can be tricky to hit. Play it safe and aim to the right side of the green as it slopes to the left and in to the middle of the green. The bunker guarding the front of the green is well placed.
/ Par 4
White Tees: 352m | Red Tees: 279m
The longest par 4 on The Cups which also plays uphill. Getting a good drive away is key as the approach is challenging. The green is guarded by a large dune on the right and bunkers on the left. Make a par 4 here and you’ll be feeling pretty happy with yourself!
/ Par 4
White Tees: 308m | Red Tees: 277m
A magnificent hole that starts with a drive from an elevated tee down into a valley. The fairway twists around a large dune on the right so the tee shot needs to be positioned well to get a look at the elevated green for your second shot. The approach is very tight as the green is heavily bunkered so if you’re not feeling the love then lay up short and chip it on for your third!
/ Par 5
White Tees: 466m | Red Tees: 424m
A heavily bunkered Par 5 that requires precision play. Large bunkers guard the right side of the fairway from the tee so those seeking safety play down the left – but this leaves a longer path home. Small fairway pot bunkers are further up the hole with a large wasteland bunker on the left side of the fairway just near the green. A great hole that does reward those who are brave.
/ Par 3
White Tees: 168m | Red Tees: 143m
The Cups features three cracking Par 3’s in the last five holes. The 5th is a testing Par 3 where distance control is essential. From an elevated tee players fire their tee shot across a deep valley to a raised green. Come up short of the green and the ball will roll back down into a deep bowl 30 metres away. Go long and the ball can fall all the way down a big slope with a tricky chip back. Miss it left and you’re in the pot bunkers. Right isn’t great either! A par here is an achievement for any golfer.
/ Par 3
White Tees: 74m | Red Tees: 49m
The signature hole on The Cups – rated as the best short Par 3 under 100 metres in Australia. The hole is only 74 metres in length and slopes straight downhill. The elevated tee shot seems easy but the heavy bunkering and undulating green ensure finesse is required, for those who miss the green are very likely to drop a shot. A super fun hole where even the really short hitters have a chance to do something quite remarkable!
/ Par 4
White Tees: 319m | Red Tees: 264m
From the tee it looks tight but there is safety to the right side of the fairway. Hit it left and you are flirting with out of bounds. The approach is tricky, requiring a shot to an elevated green that is heavily bunkered. A good way to approach this green is to hit it left where a large bank will feed the ball back to the middle of the green. A difficult green to putt on as there is a steep slope from back to front. Leave yourself a downhill putt here and a two putt will be a good result!
/ Par 3
White Tees: 161m | Red Tees: 125m
Another Par 3 that requires absolute precision. Played uphill along a ridge line with commanding views of the main Dunes course. Miss it right off the tee and you are in a world of pain down a steep bank. The green is surrounded by bunkers but there is a gap at the front of the green where you can run your ball up. Try to leave your ball below the hole as this green also heavily slopes from back to front.
/ Par 4
White Tees: 343m | Red Tees: 316m
A great downhill Par 4 to finish off your round. Everywhere but left off the elevated tee is good. The approach shot needs to be carefully executed as there is a bank on the left side of the undulating green and a small pot bunker which is extremely difficult to get up and down from. Best play is to aim for the right centre of the green and the ball will feed left to the middle. This hole plays shorter than you think and is a lot of fun to play.
